Sometimes, your favorite song may be keeping you in a low state of consciousness. I had a friend who played, “What do the lonely do
at Christmas” by the Emotions and wondered why her season wasn’t merry. But your favorite song may also be the bridge that opens
you to a space of receptivity. Think love music--Barry White, Luther Vandross, D’Angelo. But don’t confuse your favorite song with a
Theme Song. They are often not the same thing. If you’re aware of the law of attraction – and that your feelings coupled with your
thinking attract the experiences in your life, you’ll think again about the type of music that you play and how you feel when you play it.
Think about it. What’s the level of enthusiasm in your romantic relationship? What type of love music do you play or sing to yourself?
There’s always that song that hits you right where you are. Maybe you just suffered a bad break up or a realization that you had been
forgetting your own self worth. There’s a song that speaks to you from that place. I call those,
Acknowledging/Validating Songs.
Acknowledging/Validating Songs are powerful in our experiences. These songs say I’ve been through something and I’m still here.
They say, I survived. They say, I’m going through something hard and it sucks! Sometimes it takes the perfect melody with the right
voice at the right time for you to even see and feel where you are. The power comes in giving voice to where you are, knowing that
you’re not alone and trusting that this too will pass.
There’s another type of song that lifts you up. It raises your mood. It makes you want to act. These Motivating/Inspiring Songs are
essentially the Power Theme Songs that I want you to find. These songs say, “I can be better.” They say, “I can be more powerful.”
They say, “I can be sexier.” When you identify your theme song, you can program yourself to use it as a trigger to elevate your energy
or mood. When you know that you need to raise your level of energy about business, love, exercise, finances, as Corrine Bailey Rae
would say, “Put Your Records On” and let the music move you higher.
A follow-up exercise is posted on my blog. Let's all meet there and continue our dialogue. And if you’re having challenges finding that
perfect song for your challenging situation, I’ll be more than happy to help.
Much Mocha Love,

Finding YOUR Theme Song Workshop facilitated by Sheree Thompson
Dear Mochas,
It was my pleasure to guide you through one
of my favorite empowerment exercises,
Finding Your Theme Song. Did the
workshop change the way you listen to
music? Did you pick a theme song? It’s not
too late. If technology works with me (and it
has been a big challenge with this project),
you should be hearing some of the songs
played during the workshop along with some
of YOUR theme songs. Finding Your Theme
Song is a personal thing. You have to find
what moves YOU. These are just
suggestions to get you started. (Golden is
playing now, isn't it?)
Because music is so powerful, I often invite
my clients to think about what type of music
they are listening to and what effect it has on
their thinking and feeling. (Did you take your
freedom off the shelf yet?)
It doesn't really matter what you did anymore It doesn't really matter what you did it for Or who you did it to…
Chorus I forgive you (3x) Totally completely now What a freedom just releasing from my heart From my mind and soul!
It doesn't really matter whether or not I understand It doesn't really matter whether or not you're still my man I still love you.
Chorus
Bridge I no longer want to hold on To that which doesn't make me strong And I don't wanna care no more 'Bout what's right or wrong I just wanna be whole again I want to be free again Want to be me again I just want to heal…
Pivot I'm so tired of being in pain I just want to be whole again So…
Chorus I forgive you I forgive you I forgive you Totally completely now What a feeling just releasing from my heart From my mind and soul!
